People have been drinking wine for hundreds of years. But, some people consider wine to be injurious to health as it contains alcohol. Alcohol is very often thought of to be hazardous as it causes a lot of health problems. But, not many people know that alcohol can be used as a medicine. Alcohol, if consumed in a limited quantity can prove to be very helpful to reduce many health issues. The same conditions apply to wine as well. When consumed in a limited quantity, say 200 ml daily, wine can prevent many serious illnesses and can even cure some health conditions. In this article, I will discuss some of the health benefits of wine.

Wine is a good source of antioxidants. Wine is generally made from grapes, and grapes are rich in antioxidants. As a result, consuming wine will help you to reduce stress, inflammation, skin diseases, premature aging, and even decrease the chances of getting deadly diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

  1. A moderate glass of wine every day can keep your heart healthy. Wine reduces the cholesterol levels of your body and helps to maintain normal blood pressure. If you already have high blood pressure, then drinking a glass of wine per day can bring down your blood pressure to normal. However, consuming excessive wine may increase your cholesterol and you may suffer from high blood pressure. So, you need to be careful with the quantity of alcohol that you are consuming
  2. Wine has a high concentration of polyphenol that can be helpful to increase your longevity. Polyphenol can also boost your immune system and prevent certain types of cancer. It can prevent depression and can improve your body’s metabolism. 
  3. Wine can be good for your kidneys if consumed in a confined quantity. A glass of red wine every day can keep urinary tract related diseases away. Researchers believe that wine can be used to treat kidney stones and to flush out kidney stones without the usage of the medicine.

There are many types of wine differentiated on the basis of their composition. Now, the question is which wine is better for your health? Various study results have confirmed that Red Wine can be the best for health if consumed in a limited amount. Red wine, again, is classified into many sub-groups. Among them, Tawny Port is the best. Now, what is Tawny Port? Tawny Port is a sweet-smelling port wine that was first made in the cold regions of Northern Portugal. Tawny Port is classified into 5 types based on their storage period.
